42 new affordable homes in Charfield, South Gloucestershire

GreenSquareAccord (GSA) one of England’s largest providers of social housing and care, has delivered affordable homes in Charfield, South Gloucestershire.

Working in partnership with Barratt Homes, GSA is providing 42 much-needed affordable homes within the larger Charfield Gardens development.

GSA’s new homes are comprised of 31 properties reserved for a social rent and another 11 available under a low-cost home ownership scheme.

Denise Woolford, Development Officer at GSA, said “We are proud to handover the keys to our customers in South Gloucestershire. By providing both one and two bedroom apartments and houses with two, three and four bedrooms we are helping to meet a variety of local housing need.

“In addition to delivering sorely-needed social rent homes, we are also supporting those with the ambition to own their home by making some of our new properties in Charfield available through a shared ownership scheme.”

GSA is providing 10 apartments and 21 houses which are earmarked for social rent. The shared ownership homes available at Charfield Gardens include a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom apartment alongside five two-bedroom and four three-bedroom houses. All of GSA’s new homes in Charfield come with their own parking space.

Councillor John O’Neill, cabinet member with responsibility for housing at South Gloucestershire Council, said: “I’m delighted to see people move into these new homes in Charfield. This development meets the council’s affordable housing objectives, delivering 42 affordable homes and a mix of houses and flats for social rent tenure and shared ownership. There are also three adapted properties and six self-build plots, offering a range of options for potential residents.”

Gavin Saunders, a GSA customer who has recently moved into a home on Poskett Way, Charfield Gardens said: “I am grateful for the opportunity to have a fresh start in a new home in Charfield. I feel like I’m settling in really well and thoroughly enjoying making my new place feel like home.”

The new homes provided by GSA are situated in the charming South Gloucestershire village of Charfield which boasts two pubs, an independent café, post office, cricket ground and village hall.

The village has its own primary school with another three schools in a 2.5 mile radius making Charfield Gardens highly suitable for families with young children.

The Charfield Gardens development is just over 6 miles away from Yate Rail Station, is a short journey from the M5 and is located close to bus routes.
